- The Bank of Thailand said on 25 June 2026 that it has no policy of licensing FOREX trading businesses
- Providing FOREX services, or transferring money to settle them, is an offence under the Exchange Control Act B.E. 2485, on the BOT's account
- On 28 September 2026 the SEC Investor Alert list showed Trading Point Holdings Ltd (xm.com, 2017) and XM Global Limited (2023)
- Those entries are not the same classification: one was listed as unlicensed securities and derivatives, the other as unlicensed digital-asset business
- A verified XM profile does not edit the Investor Alert list and does not create a Thai licence
- Thai-language access, baht payments and seminars are solicitation signs in the SEC's 18 September 2024 statement, not signs of approval

Quick Decision Framework#
Short Answer
A verified XM profile is not a Thai FOREX licence, because the Bank of Thailand says it does not issue one. The country record is Best Forex Brokers in Thailand 2026.
Detailed Explanation
On 25 June 2026 the Bank confirmed it has no policy of licensing FOREX trading businesses. Its 19 September 2022 statement said the public must deal in foreign currency with operators licensed by the Minister of Finance, such as commercial banks, and that no licence had been granted for platform speculation. Providing those services, or transferring money to settle them, is an offence under the Exchange Control Act B.E. 2485 (1942), on the Bank's account.
This page does not explain how to send baht, how to use an acknowledgement form to reach XM, or which e-wallet still posts. The Thailand hub describes a documented portfolio channel for a resident who invests abroad without being solicited. That channel is not a permission slip for a brand on the Investor Alert list, and it is not repeated here as a funding guide.
Example
A reader in Chiang Mai finishes KYC and receives a Thai-language email with a PromptPay QR. The email is the solicitation pattern the SEC described on 18 September 2024. The verified flag does not make the QR a licensed cashier.
Common Mistake
Treating a 2017 alert date as expired. The list is a standing public notice until the SEC changes it. Check the live page. Do not assume age is a delisting.
Professional Tip
Search two strings, not one: the brand, and the company in the agreement. Use the entity checklist so a look-alike domain is not confused with the group, and so a real group name is not missed.
Two alert rows, not one rumour#
Short Answer
The 28 September 2026 search returned two XM-linked rows with different labels. Neither row is a court judgment, and neither row is cancelled by KYC.
Detailed Explanation
The SEC compiles the Investor Alert list from tips and complaints. It warns that similar names may or may not be related. These are the rows recorded in the Thailand hub:
| Name as listed | Site shown | Classification on that date | Disclosure date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trading Point Holdings Ltd. | www.xm.com | Unlicensed securities and derivatives business | 22 February 2017 |
| XM Global Limited | xm.com/th/ | Unlicensed digital asset business | 20 January 2023 |
A search for "XM" also returned many look-alike names. The hub did not treat those clones as the licensed group, and it did not treat them as safe. A search for Tradexfin, a Seychelles XM entity, returned no row. Silence is not a Thai licence. The only positive test is the SEC License check.
The SEC statement of 18 September 2024 says a foreign firm that wants to serve Thai investors directly needs a Thai company and a licence. Thai-language access, baht payments, seminars and account opening for Thai investors are among the signs of unlicensed business. People who introduce or advise can be treated as co-principals or supporters. The statement cites, for an unlicensed derivatives business, imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to 300,000 baht, or both, plus up to 10,000 baht a day. That is the SEC's description of operator and agent exposure. It is not a worksheet for moving money.
Example
A Line group calls itself an "XM IB" and collects baht into a personal account. Even if your own XM profile says verified, the collector is the pattern both authorities have described. Pay neither the group nor a later "recovery" contact.
Common Mistake
Assuming the digital-asset label on the 2023 row means the 2017 securities-and-derivatives row can be ignored. They are separate entries. Read both.
Professional Tip
Group entities are explained in Is XM safe? A regulation review. A foreign licence still does not delete a Thai alert row.
What this page will not turn into a deposit guide#
Short Answer
TFEX is the domestic regulated currency contract. It is not a back door into an XM login.
Detailed Explanation
USD/THB futures on the Thailand Futures Exchange, opened through a firm you have confirmed on the SEC License check, are the product the Thailand hub identifies as the lawful onshore route. Contract size, daily limits and margin there are exchange rules. They are not XM's leverage slider.
| Path | What the official record supports | What it does not support |
|---|---|---|
| Bank FX for a real payment | Dealing with a licensed operator | A margin bet on a platform |
| TFEX futures via an SEC-licensed broker | A domestic derivatives licence you can look up | An offshore CFD |
| Investor Alert name plus Thai solicitation | A reason to stop | A reason to "test 1,000 baht" |
| Verified XM profile | The firm stored documents | A delisting |
Revenue Department Instruction Por. 161/2566 can tax foreign income that a Thai tax resident brings into Thailand from 1 January 2024. It does not classify CFD gains in a sentence we can quote as a filing guide. Keep records and ask a Thai tax adviser if money has already moved. Do not send more.
Look-alike apps are common in the "XM" search. Pig-butchering and romance scams describe the social pattern. The alert list describes the licensing pattern. Either one is enough to stop a payment.
Example
Someone offers a "small PromptPay test" so the account can be "activated under the BOT form." This article will not complete that sentence with steps. The Bank's position is that transferring money to settle FOREX is an offence. A test is a transfer.
Common Mistake
Using a clone domain from the 19-row "XM" search because the real names were blocked. A clone is an additional fraud risk, not a workaround.
Professional Tip
If you want position-size practice without baht, use a demo and the lot size calculator. On a standard quote, 0.10 of EUR/USD is about one US dollar per pip before the spread. That arithmetic does not require a Thai cashier.
Local clock#
Short Answer
Thailand stays on UTC+7. There is no daylight-saving change to track.
Detailed Explanation
In UK and US winter, the London–New York overlap is about 20:00–00:00 in Bangkok. During UK and US summer, subtract one hour. The local weekend is Saturday and Sunday. US morning data often lands in the Thai evening.
Hours and spreads: market hours and slippage. A liquid hour does not license the firm.
Example
A reader in Khon Kaen watches the 20:30 winter window because spreads on majors are usually tighter. The Investor Alert entry does not expire at 20:30.
Common Mistake
Confusing server time on an offshore platform with a claim that the firm may solicit in Thai.
Professional Tip
Put the date you re-checked the Investor Alert list at the top of any session note.
Checklist#
- Read the Bank of Thailand statement of 25 June 2026.
- Search the live Investor Alert list for Trading Point and XM Global, and record the date.
- Confirm any genuine Thai firm on SEC License check.
- Refuse PromptPay, Line collectors and recovery agents.
- Do not treat a verified profile, a Thai-language site or an old alert date as approval.
- For a domestic currency contract, start from TFEX and an SEC-licensed broker, as the Thailand hub describes.
Glossary#
- BOT: the Bank of Thailand, which administers exchange control for the Minister of Finance.
- Exchange Control Act B.E. 2485: the 1942 statute the Bank cites against unlicensed FOREX activity and the transfers that settle it.
- Investor Alert: the SEC's public list of names reported for unlicensed securities, derivatives or digital-asset business.
- License check: the SEC tool that confirms a licence. Absence from the alert list is not this tool.
- TFEX: the Thailand Futures Exchange, where listed currency futures trade through licensed brokers.
Risk warning: CFDs and leveraged forex can lose the entire deposit. A foreign licence does not create a Thai complaint path. This article is not legal, tax or investment advice.
Next step: read Best Forex Brokers in Thailand 2026 and re-open the live Investor Alert list. Do not fund XM from a verified profile.
